PROJECTS

XUAN YU CONSTRUCTION PTE LTD, SINGAPORE

Temporary Roof Lifeline System on Kliplok 406 Roof

Project Overview

Xuan Yu Construction Pte Ltd required a temporary fall protection solution to support personnel carrying out work on Kliplok 406 metal roofs in Singapore.

Working on metal roofs presents significant fall risks, particularly when personnel need to move across large roof areas or work close to exposed edges. The requirement: a practical temporary lifeline system that would allow workers to remain continuously protected while carrying out roof works, without unnecessarily penetrating or damaging the existing roof sheets.

The Challenge

  • Personnel needed a fall protection arrangement that would allow them to work safely across the designated roof areas while maintaining secure attachment throughout the work activity.

The solution needed to:

  1. Provide effective fall protection for personnel working on the roof.
  2. Minimise unnecessary penetration of the existing Kliplok 406 roof sheets.
  3. Provide secure anchorage suitable for the roof profile.
  4. Allow workers to move along the designated work area while remaining connected.
  5. Provide a temporary system that could be deployed for the required roof works.
  6. Combine roof anchorage with suitable personal fall protection equipment.
  7. Support safe and practical day-to-day roof access and work activities.

The Solution

Client selected Action Safety over other suppliers for this project.

After evaluating the roof configuration and work requirements, a temporary lifeline solution incorporating SECURLINE® Securbac U anchor plates, S-5-K Grip roof clamps and EXYAN® rope-grab fall arrest systems was selected.

The SECURLINE® Securbac U anchor plates were installed onto the Kliplok 406 roof using S-5-K Grip clamps, providing a mechanically secured attachment arrangement to the roof

The clamping arrangement was selected to preserve the integrity of the existing roofing system from roof leaks and damage, while providing suitable attachment locations for the temporary lifeline arrangement.

The roof anchorage system was combined with EXYAN® rope-grab fall arresters and lifeline ropes, allowing workers to remain connected while moving within the designated roof work areas.

The rope-grab device travels along the lifeline rope as the worker moves and provides fall-arrest functionality should a fall occur, subject to correct system configuration, fall-clearance requirements and the approved safe work method.

🔧 Products Installed

• SECURLINE® Securbac U Stainless-Steel Roof Anchor Plates

• S-5-K Grip Clamps for attachment to Kliplok 406 roof profiles

• EXYAN® Rope Grab Fall Arresters with 10M Ropes for temporary roof fall protection

Together, these components provided a practical temporary fall protection arrangement designed around the existing roof structure and the intended work activities.

Professional Installation

The system was installed to Kliplok 406 roof profile, positioning of the Securbac U anchor plates and correct installation of the S-5-K Grip clamps.

The installation arrangement was designed to provide suitable temporary anchorage while reducing unnecessary disturbance to the existing metal roofing.

Project Outcome

The completed temporary lifeline system provided Xuan Yu Construction Pte Ltd with a practical fall protection solution for personnel carrying out work on the Kliplok 406 roofs. FULL TRAINING was provided to every worker before handover.

Overhead Lifeline System for Bus and Heavy-Vehicle Maintenance

Project Overview

PCI Auto Aircon Pte Ltd operates a one-stop air-conditioning service and repair centre for buses and heavy vehicles at Sin Ming AutoCity, Singapore.

As a one-stop service and repair centre for buses and heavy vehicles, ensuring worker safety at height was a key priority. The requirement: a reliable lifeline system to support maintenance works at approximately 4 metres from the ground, particularly for air-conditioning installation & servicing.

The Challenge

Technicians required a fall protection system that would allow them to move safely along the length of buses and heavy vehicles while carrying out maintenance work.

The solution needed to:

  • Provide continuous overhead fall protection.
  • Allow technicians to work with minimal restriction.
  • Reduce the potential fall distance.
  • Withstand regular use in an automotive workshop environment.
  • Provide suitable personal fall protection equipment for each user.
  • Support safe and efficient air-conditioning installation and servicing activities.

After careful evaluation, Securline Overhead Cable Lifeline System was selected for its proven quality, durability, and compliance with international safety standards.

Four separate 10-metre stainless-steel overhead lifeline systems were installed above the designated vehicle maintenance bays. The overhead arrangement allowed technicians to remain connected while working on top of buses and heavy vehicles, without creating unnecessary obstructions at ground level.

Each lifeline system was paired with a 10-metre EXYAN® ARA stainless-steel cable self-retracting lifeline, complete with a rope tagline to allow the SRL connector to be retrieved safely from ground level.

The workers were also provided with EXYAN® RIO Series full-body harnesses, creating a complete personal fall-arrest system suitable for the intended maintenance activities.

🔧 Products supplied:

• 4 × Securline OverHead Stainless Steel Cable Lifeline Systems - 10M EACH

• 4 × 10m Exyan - ARA Stainless Steel Cable SRLs with rope taglines

• 4 × Exyan - RIO Series Full Body Harnesses

Professional Installation

The lifeline systems were installed by Wan Cheng Marine Pte Ltd, a SECURLINE® authorised installer.

The installation was completed in accordance with the approved system configuration and manufacturer’s requirements, ensuring that the anchorage, cable assemblies and associated components were correctly positioned for the intended work activities.

Project Outcome

The completed system provided PCI Auto Aircon with a practical and reliable fall protection solution for technicians working on top of buses and heavy vehicles.

By positioning the lifelines overhead, workers could move more freely along the maintenance area while remaining continuously connected. The use of self-retracting lifelines also helped minimise excess connecting-line length and reduce potential fall distance.

The system improved the safety of air-conditioning installation, repair and servicing activities while supporting efficient day-to-day workshop operations.

Temporary Fall Protection Solution for HVAC Installation Works

Project Overview

SMT Technologies needed a temporary fall protection solution for workers carrying out HVAC installation and maintenance activities at its client’s project site.

The work presented a significant safety challenge, as technicians were required to operate close to the edge of a parapet wall. Although an existing guardrail provided a basic level of collective fall prevention, it did not provide the dedicated fall-restraint, fall-arrest or rescue capability required for the specific work activities.

The Challenge

The primary working area was approximately 25 metres away from the nearest suitable structural beam. Workers needed sufficient mobility to travel between the anchorage location and the parapet while remaining continuously connected to an appropriate fall protection system.

The solution also needed to:

  • Provide secure anchorage to the building structure.
  • Allow workers to move safely across the work area.
  • Support an effective rescue arrangement.
  • Avoid permanent modification to the building.
  • Be removable and reusable on future projects.
  • Include practical training for the workers using the system.

The Solution

Temporary, reusable fall protection system using a combination of SECURLINE® engineered anchorage components and EXYAN® personal fall protection equipment.

🔧 Products supplied:

EXYAN - CUBA Full Body Harness ( EX 220-01) - 4pcs

EXYAN - CANCUN - 30m Rope + Rope Grab System ( EX 700-30) - 4pc

SECURLINE - Anchor Post (SL11) + Counter Plate( SL11") + Accessories(SL18-500) - 16pc

Anchorage points ( SL 11+ SL11') were securely clamped to the structural beams using SL18-500 bolts, creating suitable attachment locations without requiring a permanent installation. The workers were connected through 30-metre rope systems equipped with compatible rope grabs and personal fall protection equipment.

The selected system lengths provided sufficient coverage between the structural beam and the parapet work area while allowing controlled worker movement. The overall arrangement was developed together with an appropriate rescue provision so that assistance could be provided quickly in the event of an emergency.

Practical user training before the system was put into operation was provided . The workers were trained on:

  • Correct inspection and fitting of the equipment.
  • Proper connection to the anchorage system.
  • Safe use of the rope grab and rope system.
  • Maintaining continuous protection while working.
  • Emergency procedures and rescue considerations.
  • Correct dismantling, storage and future reuse of the equipment.

Project Outcome

The fall protection system enabled the HVAC technicians to perform their work safely and efficiently while maintaining continuous connection to the anchorage system.

The project was completed safely and ahead of schedule. By combining the correct engineered anchorage solution, suitable personal fall protection equipment and practical worker training, SMT Technologies was able to manage the risks associated with working close to the parapet edge without installing a permanent system.

A further advantage was the reusable design. After the HVAC work was completed, the system could be dismantled, inspected, stored and deployed at other suitable project locations. This provided the client with a cost-effective fall protection solution for future installation and maintenance activities.
