Xuan Yu Construction Pte Ltd required a temporary fall-protection solution for personnel carrying out work on Klip-Lok 406 metal roofs in Singapore.

Working on metal roofs presents significant fall hazards, particularly where personnel need to move across large roof areas or work near exposed edges. The requirement was therefore to provide a practical temporary lifeline and anchorage arrangement that would support safe roof work while minimising unnecessary penetration of the existing roof sheets.

Following evaluation of the application and roof configuration, Xuan Yu Construction selected Action Safety to provide the proposed temporary fall-protection solution.

Personnel needed a fall-protection arrangement that would allow them to work safely within the designated roof areas while maintaining secure attachment throughout the work activity.

The solution needed to:

• Provide effective fall protection for personnel working on the roof.
• Minimise unnecessary penetration of the existing Klip-Lok 406 roof sheets.
• Provide secure attachment points compatible with the roof profile.
• Allow personnel to move within the designated work areas while remaining connected.
• Provide a temporary system suitable for the required roof works.
• Integrate roof anchorage with appropriate personal fall-protection equipment.
• Support practical day-to-day roof access and work activities.

After assessment of the roof configuration and work requirements, a temporary fall-protection arrangement incorporating SecurLine® Securbac U roof anchor plates, S-5-K Grip clamps and EXYAN® rope-grab systems with lifeline ropes was selected.

SecurLine® Securbac U stainless-steel anchor plates were installed on the Klip-Lok 406 roof using S-5-K Grip clamps.

The clamped attachment arrangement provided designated roof anchorage locations while avoiding unnecessary penetration through the metal roof sheets. This helped minimise disturbance to the existing roofing system while supporting the temporary fall-protection arrangement required for the work.

The roof anchorage arrangement was used together with EXYAN® rope-grab devices and 10-metre lifeline ropes, allowing personnel to remain connected while working within the designated roof areas.

The rope-grab device travels along the lifeline rope as the worker moves and provides the required fall-protection function when used in accordance with the approved system configuration, safe work method and applicable fall-clearance and operating requirements.

Together, these components formed a practical temporary fall-protection arrangement designed around the existing roof profile and the intended work activities.

The system was installed with careful consideration given to the Klip-Lok 406 roof profile, positioning of the Securbac U anchor plates and correct installation of the S-5-K Grip clamps.

The attachment arrangement was configured to provide suitable temporary anchorage while minimising unnecessary disturbance to the existing metal roofing.

Before project handover, full end-user training was provided to the personnel using the system.

The training covered correct connection and use of the temporary lifeline arrangement, rope-grab operation, harness connection, movement within the designated work areas and the key safety precautions to be followed when working at height.

This ensured that workers understood not only the equipment provided, but also how the complete fall-protection arrangement was intended to be used safely during the roof works.

The completed system provided Xuan Yu Construction Pte Ltd with a practical temporary fall-protection solution for personnel carrying out work on the Klip-Lok 406 roofs.

The combination of SecurLine® roof anchorage, S-5-K Grip clamping technology and EXYAN® rope-based fall-protection equipment enabled workers to remain connected within the designated work areas while minimising unnecessary penetration of the existing roof sheets.

The project was completed with installation, user training and handover, providing the client with a complete temporary roof fall-protection solution for the intended work activities.
