Client: SNT Technologies Pte Ltd
Application: Temporary Anchor Points Fall Protection for HVAC Installation & Maintenance
Location: Ang Mo Kio Street 65, Singapore
SNT Technologies required a temporary fall-protection solution for technicians carrying out HVAC installation and maintenance activities at its client’s project site.
The work involved personnel operating close to a parapet edge, where an additional personal fall-protection arrangement was required to support safe movement and secure connection during the work activity.
The objective was to provide a practical, temporary and reusable fall-protection system that could be installed without permanent modification to the building structure and subsequently dismantled for suitable future applications.
The primary work area was approximately 25 metres from the nearest suitable structural beam, creating a significant distance between the available anchorage location and the designated parapet work zone.
The solution needed to:
Following assessment of the work area, structural anchorage locations and intended work activities, a temporary and reusable fall-protection arrangement was selected using a combination of SecurLine® engineered anchorage components and EXYAN® personal fall-protection equipment.
SecurLine® anchor posts and counter plates were mechanically clamped to suitable structural beams using the specified fastening arrangement, creating designated attachment locations without requiring permanent modification to the structure.
Technicians were connected using 30-metre EXYAN® CANCUN rope and rope-grab systems, providing sufficient working length between the structural anchorage and the designated HVAC work area.
The complete arrangement was configured around the intended safe work method, available anchorage locations, worker movement and emergency-response requirements.
Together, these components formed a practical temporary fall-protection arrangement suited to the site conditions and intended HVAC work activities.
The SecurLine® SL11 anchor posts and SL11' counter plates were securely clamped to suitable structural beams using SL18-500 fastening accessories.
This mechanically secured arrangement provided designated temporary anchorage locations while avoiding unnecessary drilling or permanent alteration of the supporting structure.
The removable configuration also allowed the anchorage components to be dismantled after completion of the work and retained for suitable future applications, subject to inspection and verification of the new installation conditions.
Before the system was placed into service, practical end-user training was provided to the personnel using the equipment.
Training covered:
This ensured that workers understood both the individual components and how the complete temporary fall-protection arrangement was intended to be used safely.
The completed system provided SNT Technologies with a practical temporary fall-protection solution for technicians carrying out HVAC installation and maintenance activities close to the parapet work area.
The combination of temporary structural anchorage, rope-based fall-protection equipment and full-body harnesses enabled personnel to carry out the required activities while remaining connected in accordance with the approved work arrangement.
The project was completed safely and ahead of schedule, with practical user training provided before handover.
A further advantage was the reusable nature of the system. Following completion of the HVAC works, the equipment could be dismantled, inspected and stored for deployment at other suitable project locations, providing the client with a cost-effective fall-protection asset for future installation and maintenance activities.
Every work-at-height application presents different access, anchorage, fall-clearance, movement and rescue considerations.
