Every horizontal lifeline system must be designed for the supporting structure and site conditions.

Every horizontal lifeline system is individually designed to suit the roof profile or supporting structure, taking into account structural strength, available fall clearance, span length, number of users and maintenance requirements. 

A horizontal lifeline system provides continuous fall protection by allowing workers to remain securely connected while moving along a designated work area. The system consists of engineered anchor points, a stainless-steel cable (or rigid rail), intermediate supports and an integrated energy absorber designed to reduce the forces generated during a fall.

The worker wears an EN 361 full-body safety harness connected to the horizontal lifeline using a compatible EN 355 energy-absorbing lanyard or EN 360 self-retracting lifeline (SRL). As the worker moves, the traveller or connector passes smoothly through intermediate brackets without requiring the user to disconnect from the system.

In the event of a fall, the energy absorber limits the load transferred to both the user and the supporting structure, while the fall arrest equipment helps bring the worker to a controlled stop. Every horizontal lifeline system must be engineered to consider factors such as span length, system deflection, fall clearance, swing fall potential, structural capacity and the number of simultaneous users.

Horizontal lifeline systems require periodic inspection - annually to help ensure continued safe use and system integrity.

Every SecurLine® horizontal lifeline system is engineered ,designed and installed in accordance with applicable EN 795:2012 and, where applicable for multiple users, CEN/TS 16415:2013, using high-quality stainless steel components designed to work together as an integrated fall protection solution. 

Depending on the roof type, supporting structure and project requirements, a typical system includes:

End Anchors – Securely transfer fall arrest forces to the supporting structure. 

Intermediate Brackets – Support the lifeline cable while allowing the traveller to pass smoothly without disconnecting. 

Stainless Steel Lifeline Cable – A high-strength stainless steel cable that provides continuous anchorage along the work area. 

Energy Absorber – Reduces the impact forces transmitted to both the user and the structure in the event of a fall. 

Cable Tensioner – Maintains the correct cable tension for optimum system performance. 

Traveller – Moves freely along the lifeline, allowing continuous hands-free movement while remaining connected. 

Roof Attachment Base – Engineered fixing solutions for trapezoidal roofs, standing seam roofs, concrete structures and structural steel. 

System Identification Signage – Displays essential information including system details, user capacity and inspection requirements.
